Vice President
Amber Miller
I became institutionalized at a young age after being in behavioral camps, group homes, domestic violence shelters, correctional facilities, and alcohol/drug treatment rehabilitation centers. Upon completion of a local inpatient treatment program, I identified as transit with my daughter utilizing community resources. I transitioned from short to long-term homeless shelters while enrolled as a full-time student at San Diego City College. I obtained an associate degree in Alcohol and drug studies and Sociology at SDCC and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in sociology.
Currently, I am a Project Rebound Master Social Work student at Cal State University San Marcos on course to graduate in fall 2025 with plans of obtaining an LCSW. I am the Student Services Assistant at Wesley House Student Residence providing maintenance, administrative support and overseeing the volunteer program, which I helped launch in 2023. Also, I provide outreach services to incarcerated women by participating in workshops with correctional staff and NAWJ offering resources and a message of hope to those who plan on seeking a higher education upon their release. “Higher education and recovery were my way out because it gave me another chance at life.
We believe in leading with love to assist homeless individuals in getting their lives back on track within a supportive environment, with peer-to-peer support and community-based resources. Helping the underserved populations reach self-sufficiency and not just surviving but thriving because of the permanent lifestyle changes they make.
